Horn of Africa is a peninsula region of eastern Africa comprising Somalia, Djibouti, Eretria, Ethiopia.  There is also a broader geopolitical definition which includes Kenya, Sudan, South Sudan, and Uganda known as "The Great Horn Of Africa."  The region has for centuries been a trade centre open to the outside world given by its strategic location and, probably lies alongside the Indian Ocean, the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden and has contact with  the Arabian peninsula and southwest Asia.                                                                           
The strategic importance of the region attracted global powers since it is the main marine route that connects the Middle East, South East Asia, Europe and Americas. The new geopolitical challenges and pre-existing intra-state and inter-state conflicts in the region associated with prevalent insecurity ruining in the region make it the most conflict-ridden region in Africa.  Hon of Africa's strategic importance and the volatile peace and security. Somali Peninsula Research Centre (SPR CENTER) was established, as self-financed non-profit organization for Horn of Africa region, which is entirely independent from political, ideological, and economic institutions. SPR CENTER seeks to contribute a well-formulated methodical studies, regional outlook and political discourses related to the contemporary issues in the region. It also makes rigorous efforts to provide suitable tools for policy makers and concerned actors find durable solutions to all these wide-ranging social and political challenges ridden in the region.
